Leadership Summit for Middle and High School Students

The Tavis Smiley Foundation’s 2009 Leadership Institute is now taking applications. Middle and High school students between the ages of 13-18 will have a chance to meet more than 200 of the nation’s best young leaders for five days of training on leadership, youth advocacy, volunteerism and civic engagement. Speakers include Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West.

When & Where: August 7-11, 2009 at UCLA Campus, Los Angeles

Key sessions include Teen Town Hall, Community Service Project, Team Project Competition, and a Leadership Track for Young Women and Men. Early bird registration is $500 and includes dormitory housing, meals and all conference workshops and events. Students will be selected based on an essay, letter of recommendation, leadership, school and community activities. Application deadline is May 31.
