Grants

Many people tell me they like to read about various grants that I find, so here are two very recent ones that I’ve heard about via my IYI Newsletter (Indiana Youth Initiative).   I’m only familiar with them through their website so I’m not sure what additional services I can find there, but I do know their website is a clearinghouse for statistics, grants and workshops aimed at serving the youth of Indiana.

Great idea! Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Ashoka’s Youth Venture and the Earth Island Institute present the Lorax Challenge, encouraging young people between the ages of 12 and 20 to develop and implement plans to improve their local natural environment. Grant range: $1,000. Deadline: May 31, 2008. More info: http://genv.net/

Funding is available to help schools prepare for the new school year.

Dollar General offers Back-to-School Grants to help elementary, middle and high schools purchase equipment, materials and software for the school library. The school must be located within 20 miles of a Dollar General store.
