Keeping Literate

The other day, Zetta Elliott poste about the Guys lit Wire Making a Difference Teen Book Drop. While the teen book drop event is/was actually today and yours truly had too much going on to catch it, it is never too late to make a difference!  Guys Lit has been working this month to raise awareness about the need for books on Native American reservations and has developed ways for us to make a difference by donating books. Visit their site for more information.

ELLA (English Language Latina Authors) is the nation’s only book club devoted to books by and about Latinas. The club, created by Alisa Valdez Rodriguez, is currently reading The Firefly Letters by Margarita Engle. Alisa blog has a video interview with Engle and club events can be found by following @alisavaldez. Isn’t that cover amazing? If you’re not familiar with the book, check out Ari or Laura’s review from last month. And if you’re not familiar with Alisa Valdez Rodriguez, go get a copy of Haters or Dirty Girls Social Club (one of my all time favorites!!) right now!!

Next month, ELLA will be reading Eye of the Mountain God by Penny Rudolph.

  1. Thanks for posting on the wish lists, Edi! We will be running this book fair through next Wednesday so everyone is welcome to check them out and see if they can buy a book for Ojo Encino or Alchesay. (Lots of inexpensive books, promise!!!)
