13 Feb: Black and Banned

Tonya Bolden is the acclaimed author of more books than 40 books. She writes so that young people can know their history. Her books are primarily works of non-fiction that explores often forgotten pieces of the past.
Tonya was born and raised in New York City. She has earned degrees from Princeton and Columbia. Honors for her work include the CSK Author Award, The James Madison Book Award, and the Orbis Pictus award.

Three of Tonya’s books (listed below) have been challenged in 2023. It looks like they have all been returned to the school library shelves in Florida, Arkansas, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
