Great news!!! Allan Stratton’s Chanda’s Secret is currently in production in South Africa to become a major motion picture release. Stratton is currently blogging behind the scenes events, sharing photos and taking us on safari with him!
Meanwhile, his homepage is promoting his upcoming novel, Borderline.
Life’s not easy for Sami Sabiri since his dad stuck him in a private school where he is the only Muslim kid.
But it’s about to get a lot worse. When Sami catches his father in a lie, he gets suspicious…He’s not the only one. In a whirlwind, the FBI descends on his home, and Sami’s family becomes the center of an international terrorist investigation. Now Sami must fight to keep his world from unraveling. An explosive thriller ripped from today’s headlines, Borderline is the story of a funny, gutsy Muslim-American teen determined to save his father, his family and his life.
Borderline will be released in Spring, 2010.
I had an email conversation with Allan when I reviewed Chanda’s War. He is such an easy going, nice person! He chooses to write about marginalized characters, giving them voices and dignity. I wish him much success!

I need to read Chanda’s War! I own it and I’m also really eager for the release of Borderline. I didn’t know there was a sequel to Chanda’s War, now I know 🙂

Edi, hi —
Thank you so much for the shout-out for “Chanda’s Secrets”! Also your kind words!
Miss Attitude, hi to you too! Glad you’ve got “Chanda’s Wars”. Chanda’s Secrets” comes before chanda’s Wars, but both books can be read independently! 🙂
All the best and Happy Holidays,
Allan

Ari,
I’ve read both of these and they do stand independent. I thought I gave a link to my review of Chanda’s War, but got caught up trying to find my review of Chanda’s Secret. I read it to long ago to trust my memory to tell you too much about it. I do remember being impressed at how well the issues of war and AIDS were handled in a MG novel.
Suffice to say it was good enough for me to want to read the next volume in Chanda’s saga.
