#SundayReads

I’m trying to get organized.  Again. I find myself flittering from spot to spot when I haven’t created a map for myself of where I’ll go next. Three problems I’ve found with planning that I’ll have to overcome.

  • I tend to over plan.
  • I already know that I am not particularly flexible. When I make a plan, I want to stick with it. I don’t want to get so used to and committed to plans that it makes me old.
  • Where to keep my ‘things to do list’??  Most of what I want/need to do is done or discovered online yet an online list is not always available. Write on paper??

Having read a wonderful post on connecting with intention helps bring this all into focus.  I’ve limited my Twittering from the very beginning, using it only for professional type connections. I’ve realized that more productive posts seem to appear during the work day…during the work day! Of course being in the midst of productivity leads to creative thought, but it also diminishes the time. No time for Twitter during my work day!!  I haven’t played with many of the tools to really make Twitter work for me, at this point I don’t know if I want to take the time.

No doubt I need to work on blogging and community building. Ning? Perhaps. I belong to 7 or 8 communities there where I never interact.

How about a Ning for those of us interested in promoting literacy for teens of color?

I cannot wait to read Midnight Charter by David Whitley.

Reading The Forgotten People article reminded me of a much longer article in NYTimes a few weeks ago on the power of giving aid to women in devleoping countries.

I’m looking at the upcoming IBBY Conference as well as the Kidlitosphere Conference.  Wondering where my readers will be?

The 11 September post on Tanita S. Davis’ blog brings it all home.

  1. Your ning suggestion is a fantastic one. If you establish, I’ll be certain to send teachers in my area your way. I was going to suggest adding this group to the EC Ning if it doesn’t exist already…but perhaps a smaller and more intimate crowd might be more welcoming at first? Don’t know. Great idea–hope you pursue it!
