SundayReads

This Sunday morning is a day of an unexpected, quiet rain, the kind that can last all day. Thus, a good day for reading!

Dr. Zetta has put together a wonderful, read on the state of children’s publishing. “I am not asking you to level the playing field as a “favor” to people of color.  I am asking you to work with us in our efforts to transform children’s lives.”

Are you famliar with José Argüelles’ theory that Dec. 21, 2012,  is the date around which the ancient Maya “Long Count” calendar resets, the end of a 5,125-year cycle? A very interesting article.

I really enjoyed this posting on Rules of Thumb. Yeah, he’s speaking about the business world, but don’t be afraid to think metaphorically.

LA Times has a very nice review of  The Thing Around Your Neck Stories by
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.  I wish I had the skills to write like that.

The Unquiet Librarian picks up on the controversy of schools children and the president, with links to other sites as well.

That’s it! It’s LaborDay week. Relax and enjoy the fruits of your Labor
