The United States Navy General Library Program will have 12 summer internship openings for the summer of 2010.
A division of the Navy’s Fleet and Family Readiness program, the Navy General Library Program provides similar services and facilities to personnel on Navy Bases as Public Libraries provide in cities and towns.
Locations for these internships may include:
Naples, Italy
Sigonella, Italy
Rota, Spain
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Atsugi, Japan
Yokosuka, Japan
Great Lakes, IL
Little Creek, VA
Pensacola, FL
Ft. Worth, TX
Pearl Harbor, HI
Navy Base, Guam
Students may perform a variety of tasks depending on qualification,
interest, and needs of hosting facility. Across the Fleet there is a
need for library students interested in children’s and youth
programming, cataloging, reference, automation, and special projects.
Interns will be placed at a location based on how well their skill
sets fill a base library’s specific need.
Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled in an
ALA accredited MLS program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The application

Travel to and from the internship site will be provide for successful
applicants. On base housing will be arranged, and a stipend will be
provide for basic living expenses.
