I’m not much of a fan of posts that flaunt all the new acquisitions from bookstores, via the mail carrier and from book swaps. I don’t get the point. So, I really hesitated to mention books I’ve acquired in recent contests. However, I’m going to go ahead and mention them because I have to publicly thank the sponsors not just for sponsoring such generous contests, but for maintaining such interesting and comprehensive blogs. Voces, GreenBeanTeenQueen, Reach for More, Aspira a mas, and the Brown Book Shelf are worth reading for the insights they provide us into the literary world. These blogs are filled with access to authors, previews of upcoming books, videos, literary announcements and sometimes just slices of life that make you want to smile and join in the conversation.
Voces is a rather new blog written by Adriana Dominguez who has well over 10 years experience in the Latino Publishing world.

GreenBeenTeenQueen is written by Sarah, a fresh voice to the librarian world who offers a very dynamic, eclectic collection to her readers.
Brown Book Shelf is hosted by some of the hardest work African American authors out there: Paula Chase Hyman, Varian Johnson, Don Tate, Karla Starling Lyons and Carla Sarratt. Their stuff is good. Really good. I cannot keep it on my shelves, not because the students keep checking it out but because they check it out and they keep it. They love it.
Reach for more-Aspira a mas, is written by Cassie, a phenomenal bilingual teacher. Her vivacious energy runs through her blog and she sounds like the kind of teacher I wish my children had.

Edi,
Your candor is one of the reasons I like you. LOL I can tell you the point of doing the book acquistion posts for me: the biggie is that I get to promote books I might not get around to reviewing, and I can link to reviews (I swear I link to Doret’s so much, folks might wonder if she’s my girlfriend. I doubt I’m her type). I’ve found some good reads through this kind of meme, my most recent is Aya. I saw it on a Library Loot post.
Anyhoo, I saw a tweet I think about Voces.I visited the site and immediately added it to my blogroll. Very excited to see what Adriana does there. Didn’t know about Cassie but you know by now that I follow your lead so I’m on my way by. Paula is no stranger. Been awhile since I’ve been by Sarah’s, she’s getting married soon, right?
Hey to all fabulous lady. I’m Edi’s shadow, Susan.
Thanks,
S

Congrats on some great books won Edi. Thanks for this post I’ve just learned of a few new blogs. Are there people who read children’s blogs on a regular basis that are not familar with The Brown Book Shelf. Really. LMAO at girlfriend. I don’t think people are thinking according to sitemeter only a few click on over.
“I don’t know if anyone is seeing the community we’re forming, if anyone else is noticing that as we visit each others blogs and take the time to visit some of the blogs on the blogroll, we’re connecting to each other.” – Brown Bloggers who could one post and one link at a time”
