Thinking ABCs OutLoud

I’m going through my GoogleReader truly enjoying having all the blogs I love to follow in one convenient location. But, in that convenience I’m realizing how it also limits my world. All but three of the nearly 20 blogs which I read are written by women and relate to books. Sure, it’s great to be able to focus in on what I want to read, I’m a busy person, right? But there’s so much to be said for paging through a newspaper or magazine and finding things I didn’t really mean to read because they wouldn’t normally interest me. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how how limited our perceptions are, and this is just one way I see I’m doing it to myself.

So, over on Thinking Aloud, I read another of the wonderful ABC meme poems. There’s something about working within limits that causes us to be just that much more creative! So, I had to give it a try.

  1. Sure you’re not a poet? Love this.

I, too, have been thinking about how I compartmentalize my life, my interests. I love keeping up with world affairs, politics, arts outside of literature and music, but I’m so wrapped in my daily routine of checking, updating my blogs which are both book focused that it’s easy to neglect other interest. Another thought-provoking post. Thanks.

    1. The time I spend glued to this computer is a whole other issue! I’ve recently read about programs people install to limit the amount of time they can spend online. Once installed, the program can neither be altered or deleted. I want to believe I have more self control than that! I’ve got to cut back!

    1. LOL I didn’t even think about “Quilts”! Actually, I gave it up when I began my MLS. I found that which I had enjoyed so much had become a source of stress for me. But now, with my oldest son about to marry, I’m thinking about making him one. What else is there for the mother of the groom to do??
