It’s great to find the books, grants, websites and other services for teens of color, but what’s even more important is understanding the culture that influences these teens lives.  Understanding the culture will help us relate better and as library professionals, it will help us lead teens to literature they will enjoy, help us create enjoyable programming and select resources free of bias and stereotypes.  So, from time to time, I’ll be posting FOOTNOTES, insights into different cultures.

AND, the book reviews are coming!  They’ve been delayed because I’ve had to put my home back together behind a “friend” who lived here while I was gone.
