I’m a local Latino Drug and Alcohol counselor and preventions specialist. I have a degree in music and play 10 instruments. I’m looking for funds that will allow me to work with the youth in my community to do mentoring, Drug and alcohol prevention and to teach them music skills as an extra curricular positive activity.

I’m a graduate student working on a thesis whereby I would like to compare schools that implement this mentoring program w/results of success – compared to those who do not utilize it. I also believe that music/art can stimulate self-esteem, therefore providing incentive to succeed in general personality – allowing social interactions and better interpersonal skills.

I would like more information regarding mentoring programs and how it can be applied to all schools, starting in elementary schools.

I’m really just posting information here as I get it and I currently don’t have information on any other programs to pass along. I can put a little something on Twitter to see if there is anyone who can help with your research.
