Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (host of the PBS series African American Lives)
and Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham, the Editors in Chief of the African
American National Biography, will discuss the importance of biography in the
African American community, the mission of recovery of lost lives that
was the inspiration for making this groundbreaking resource which is the
largest collection of black lives ever assembled in one publication, and
the ongoing commitment to the Oxford African American Studies Center.
They will take questions following the discussion.
