Come experience YALSA hospitality in Nashville, Tenn., at the first-ever Young Adult Literature Symposium, Nov. 7-9! The symposium’s theme is “How We Read Now,” and will feature an optional pre-conference on illustrated materials for teens, a genre luncheon that will give attendees the chance to meet & mingle with authors, as well as two days of great programs and paper presentations. See all the details, plus housing and registration rates, at www.ala.org/yalitsymposium!
Early bird registration is open through September 1 at www.ala.org/yalitsymposium. YALSA, Tennessee Library Association and Tennessee Association of School Librarians received discounted registration, as do students. Housing registration is also open at www.ala.org/yalitsymposium (special rate available for YA Lit Symposium attendees).
Short on funds but interested in attending? Be sure to fill out an application for our $1,000 stipend for use toward travel. The stipend will be given in two categories: one to a YALSA personal member who is also a library student enrolled in an ALA-accredited MLS program as of Nov. 7, 2008, and one to a YALSA personal member who has one to ten years of experience serving teenagers in a professional library setting. Stipend applications are due May 1 and can be found at www.ala.org/yalitsymposium.
